The Friedlander Block of our Estate consists of dry-farmed, head-trained vines planted in 1978 in the rolling hills of the California Shenandoah Valley AVA in Amador County. This block produces a wine that beautifully balances intensity and complexity with structured tannins and brightness.

Winemaker Notes by Philippe Melka

This produces a concentrated, ruby-colored, robust Zinfandel with an explosive mouthfeel. The wine has blackberries, raspberries, toasted fruit, cocoa powder, and sweet baking spice notes. It is perfectly balanced and rounded with firm, delicate tannins.

Winemaker Notes
Friedlander Block is showing muscular characteristics and concentrated flavors. This red wine is a true full-bodied Zinfandel with firm tannins, round palate, and a lingering finish.
Food Pairing Notes
The richness and tenderness of slow-cooked braised short ribs will match well with the wine's full body and velvety finish. The dish's depth of flavor will complement the complexity of the Zinfandel, while the firm tannins will help cut through the richness of the meat.
