Considering it didn’t start yielding fruit until 2005, Shake Ridge Ranch has gained an uncommon stature among California’s vineyards. Due to meticulous vineyard practices and sustainable farming, its grapes continue to bring attention to the Sierra Foothills, including elite vintners throughout Napa and Sonoma.
"Over the years we've sold fruit to so many top winemakers with so many different styles using the same fruit. You want to say it's all about the fruit, but when you taste these wines you realize the impact of the winemakers.” - said Ann Kraemer, Vineyard Manager of Shake Ridge Ranch, in an interview with The Wine Writer.
A sentiment that transcends to our Estate Winemaker, Mark Fowler, a second generation foothill winemaker who Ann mentored while he worked at Shake Ridge Ranch years ago.

Andis 2020 Shake Ridge Ranch Reserve Zinfandel (Sierra Foothills). This very layered wine is almost naughty in its decadence and deliciousness. Plump ripe fruit notes of bright red cherry, black plum and boysenberry join with complementary tones of vanilla, nutmeg, black tea, chocolate, black olive and game meat. Tannins are mouthcoating yet smooth. The finish provides a lingering integration of aromas and flavors. —S.B.
Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Shake Ridge Ranch is planted in 2003, the grapes are tended
with constant attention, yet minimal and careful intervention.
The vines are farmed at lower yields, encouraging strong,
healthy plants to produce the highest quality wines. The entire
ranch is farmed sustainably using just enough organic fertilizer
and compost to support natural growth; utilizing cover crops
for both nutrition and erosion control.
Winemaker Notes
This vintage of Zinfandel is a bold and warmly appealing wine
offering classic blackberry and black-cherry flavors; hints of
chocolate and vanilla to add to all the ripe black fruits.
