Painted Fields BBQ Sauce

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups finely chopped yellow onion
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 12 ozs tomato paste
- 1 cup cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1 cup Andis Painted Fields red wine
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup hoisin sauce (found in the Asian food section of a grocery store)
- 3 tbsps mustard powder
- 2 tbsps chili powder
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/3 cup cherry preserves (from jelly/jam section, NOT pie filling)
Directions
In a large saucepan on low heat, saute the onions and garlic with the vegetable oil for 10-15 minutes, until the onions are translucent but not browned. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer uncovered on low heat for 30 minutes. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
