Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Expressing aromas of rose petals, blueberry and mint, the 2011 Grenache possesses a playful mix of spiciness and juiciness. Medium bodied and silky smooth it exhibits flavors of strawberry, cocoa, and cranberry juice. The wine has a distinctively long finish complimented by a rush of raspberry and floral overtones.

Winemaker Notes
Because great Grenache is so sparsely planted in the Foothills (and the state as a whole for that matter) we source our Grenache from several small vineyards throughout Amador County. We bottled this wine after only 10 months in the cellar to capture the vibrancy of its character. Expressing aromas of rose petals, blueberry and mint, this wine possesses a playful mix of spiciness and juiciness with flavors of cherry cola, cocoa and cranberry juice.
Food Pairing Notes
As with previous Andis Grenache vintages, the 2011 pairs beautifully with pork dishes. From a grilled pork loin to pan seared pork chops, the Grenache is a wonderful compliment. It also pairs well with aromatic soups, curries, Asian dishes and herb roasted chicken.

Other Notes
Bottled early and directly from one of our artisan concrete tanks to capture the freshness and delicate nature of this wine, the 2011 Grenache will continue to open over the next 6 to 12 months revealing additional layers of complexity. In the meantime, a gentle decanting before serving is strongly suggested. 80% Grenache, 20% Syrah

Its mix of lightly smoky oak and mild but attractive strawberry-like fruitiness with a hint of concentration is followed on the palate by a medium - full to full - bodied bottling with a firm texture and evident latter palate tannins. It comes across as a bit tough for Grenache but earns its spurs on the basis of its focused varietal character. 87pts. 1 Puff.

My second bottle of this wine; you might not guess that it's Grenache because of the bass notes. Decanted 90 mins. ahead. Medium-deep garnet color. Nice savory nose of white pepper, cherries, blackberry, and coffee hints. Rich and smooth on the palate, not tart, as black cherry flavors lead over dark spices. Finishes quickly with low tannins. A nice wine from the dark end of the Grenache scale, probably pushed in that direction by the Syrah in the blend. 88 points
